Description
Charmouth offers that wonderful profile of the headland called ‘Golden Cap’. It is a surprisingly long way to walk to the highest point in Dorset from the mouth of the river Char. The Old Testament Book of Exodus seemed appropriate as a support for the long trek this couple have made in the rain. You can see the raindrops caught in the surface of the painting…along with the grit and clays from the beach. The text from an old folio Bible is turned on its side and therefore not immediately legible. It becomes my mid tone and echoes the verticals of the rain. I use water based pigments precisely because weather can leave its mark.
